Help from Dr. Lana

Welcome to a  new series on wellness.  Listen as Dr. Lana helps parents learn more about some of the challenges facing our young people.
Feel free to use these resources in your own schools or share them with someone who may benefit from them.

As we create more, they will be posted here.  We want to continue to discuss issues that, while common, are not always easy to manage.

Did you know that according to the World Health Organization, 10% of all children and adolescents worldwide experience depression or anxiety? Emerging research suggests that the global prevalence of child and adolescent mental illness has increased considerably since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, making this an important first topic for us to cover.  Dr. Lana explains more below.

Your Child and

ANXIETY

Whether small changes like a change in a schedule, or a larger one like a new sibling or a world event, change impacts us all, and we all manage it differently.  Learn how you can support your child as they cope with change.

Your Child and

CHANGE

Confidence allows us to meet life's challenges, try again when we fail, and reach out to new people and situations. According to kidshealth.org, "when we're confident, we're more likely to move forward with people and opportunities — not back away from them." Confidence is an invaluable tool and can be practiced, like a skill. Have a listen to Dr. Lana's advice on growing confidence in your child.
