OBC vision
Authentic Inclusion is the appreciation for diversity (whether that be linguistic, cultural, developmental, or academic) and the resolve to invite that diversity into the learning experience.
That invitation must be open one – wherein all participants have a right to voice and agency. An inclusive learning environment cultivates a sense of security in which students feel safe within the learning process. Many schools understand the worth of cultural and linguistic diversity. Promoting learning diversity, however, demands a willingness to accept and nurture exceptionalities that may stretch us.
I have had the privilege to work with truly talented educators over the past two decades. It has allowed me to grow in my practice in ways I would not have thought at the start of my career, and has shown me time and again how much more I have to learn.
Working with others to create learning engagements that really consider the student is a powerful experience and can lead to powerful results. Looking at how we encourage children to participate requires us to work together.
